The Contribution of the Intervention Program in North Dakota in reducing Substance Abuse
May 30, 2008
Like other states of the nation, even North Dakota has been battling with problems of alcoholism and substance abuse. However, in recent times, more and more people are entering into treatment and this is what is helping to mitigate the problem within the state to a certain extent.
In earlier days, there was a definite stigma about entering any kind of rehab treatment in North Dakota. These people considered themselves as outcasts and ostracized from society. In addition, there was the phobia of the detoxification part of the treatment which was definitely though to be a very painful process to go through.
But now, with the help of several measures put in place by the addiction treatment program in North Dakota, perceptions have changed. One of the most significant contributors in changing the perceptions of the people and actually bringing them to treatment measures is the intervention program in North Dakota.
Interventionists in North Dakota are quite adept in training people in how to come over their addictions. These specialists will prepare a group of people to emphasize the importance of addiction treatment in the person’s mind. This people will include family and friends, teachers and employers. The main intention is to make the person overcome the fear of the treatment.
In addition, the intervention program will make it very clear how the entire treatment program will be conducted. They will also remove the fear of the detox program by letting them know of the medications and the other therapies that will be used to lessen the effects of withdrawal that happen during the treatment.
